Safe Handling Practices

3 Hours

On completion of this course students will know how to move and handle objects safely so that risks to their backs can be reduced.

A certificate of attendance will be issued which remains valid for 3 years from the date of training.

Fire Warden

This course covers the role of the designated fire warden (fire marshal). You will learn about preventing fires and learn about the different types of fire extinguisher and how to use them correctly.

This course is suitable for those that are responsible for overseeing fire safety, designated fire wardens and anyone who needs to know how to use a fire extinguisher

Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions in Schools

This is a modular course to provide schools with the necessary training to conform with the DOE Statutory guidance on supporting pupils in school with medical needs launched in December 2015 and updated in 2017.

These modules will allow the candidate to ensure pupils at school with medical conditions are properly supported so that they have full access to education, including school trips and physical education. 

There are 4 elements to this course and schools are able to carry out their own needs assessment and choose which modules are needed.

A certificate of attendance will be issued which remains valid for 3 years from the date of training.

The four modules are: 

  •  Managing Medicines in schools – this module covers individual care plans, consent forms, storage of medication, administration of medicines, problem solving, disposal of medicines, non prescription medication
  • Managing Asthma, Allergies and Anaphylaxis – this module covers personal asthma care plans, different types of inhaler, Emergency inhalers in schools, treatment of mild, ,moderate and severe asthma, how to recognise and treat anaphylaxis and use of various models of auto injector
  • Managing Diabetes – this module covers individual care plans, causes and symptoms of hypoglycaemia, blood glucose monitoring, supporting pupils with insulin in schools, supporting pupils with insulin pumps in schools, sports and PE for pupils with diabetes
  • Managing Epilepsy – what causes seizures, types of seizure, the psychological, social and effects on learning epilepsy can have, what to do when a seizure occurs, individual care plans, what to monitor after a seizure

Emergency Aid in Schools

This course is ideal for the school environment. The Emergency Aid  in schools first aider  will be able to take charge in the event of illness or accident, deal with medical emergencies and manage the incident until a fully qualified first aider can take over.

This course can be run in school or you can send your staff on one of our public courses.

Basic Paediatric Course

Suitable for  newly qualified entrants to the early years workforce who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30 June 2016.  They must have completed either an Advanced Paediatric First Aid Course or an Emergency PFA certificate within three months of starting work

Upon successful completion of the assessment the students receive a Emergency Paediatric First Aid Certificate which remains valid for 3 years from the date of issue

Advanced Paediatric First Aid

This course is suitable for candidates working with very young children. This certificate will cover the legislation that at least one person must be on the premises and available at all times when children are present, and must accompany children on outings. 

Childminders, and any assistant who might be in sole charge of the children for any period of time, must hold a full current Advanced Paediatric first aid certificate. 

Upon successful completion of the assessment the students receive a Advanced Paediatric First Aid Certificate which remains valid for 3 years from the date of issue

Dental Emergencies First Aid

This course is designed for dental professionals. It covers Basic Life Support and emergencies that are common in the dental setting.

We also check through your emergency drugs.

The General Dental Council recommends that all dentists and dental care professionals undertake verifiable Continual Professional Development training in 3 core subjects.  This course can contribute to the 10 hours required in the CPD cycle for medical emergencies and at the same time fulfilling the recommendations from the UK Resuscitation Council

On successful completion students receive a certificate for Dental Medical Emergencies which is valid for 3 years.

Automatic External Defibrillation

This course is recommended for anyone who has access to an AED machine.

On completion of this course students will have an understanding of resuscitation and the AED equipment, be able to perform CPR and use the equipment effectively.
